The current Miss SA, Melinda Bam will not be able to represent the country in this year’s Miss World pageant, citing personal reasons.
The first Princess, Remona Moodley will step in as SA’s representative at this year’s Miss World Pageant in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China on 18 August 2012.
Described by Sun International Resorts Executive, Sue Klerck as “a smart young woman set for success,” Moodley is no stranger to pageants and has held the titles of First Princess for Miss SA Teen in 2006 and Miss India South Africa in 2005.
“We fully support Remona in her quest to bringing home the crown. “We are extremely proud of Remona taking on this challenge and wish her success in her journey,” said Klerck.
For a month Remona will participate in numerous activities and sightseeing events along with other contestants. Her formal evening gown for the event will be made by Durban based designer, Haroun Hansrot.
The current Miss World title holder is Ivian Sarcos Colmenares of Venezuela. Colmenares won the competition on November 6, 2011 in London, England.
